The DAVIS PUD submitted by Estridge is scheduled for a vote at the City Council Meeting on Monday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Your emails and phone calls were vital at the APC meeting. The developer gave opening remarks criticizing Westfield citizens for advocating for better developments in this community to protect their property values and their children. The developer then made many verbal promises of change to the development because of you. This swayed the APC to give a positive recommendation. However, there are still problems. Here are a couple of them. The quoted price points of $550,000 - $750,000 homes are not supported in the PUD when some submitted illustrations of homes can be found on the Estridge website starting at $386,900. Obviously this is a major gap. Another critical problem is the one direct adjoining citizen to this development is NOT being given a buffer. Our city's Unified Development Ordinance states a minimum of 30 feet buffer. Our city's Comprehensive Plan says any development in this area must include buffers and transitions. The developer wants to use residents' backyards as the buffer. REALLY? This citizen has repeatedly reached out to the developer and a Council member working closely with Estridge asking for a buffer to this residential property. There has been no change. How can an elected official, elected to represent Westfield citizens not advocate on behalf of this citizen? This must stop. We need elected officials that represent Westfield Citizens not developers. Please email your Mayor and your City Council and ask that citizens across this community are respected and any new housing development is in the best interest of the community and not the developer and land owners. Thank you again for your continuing support! Emails: acook@westfield.in.gov councilmembers@westfield.in.gov
