On Monday night May 7th at 7:00 p.m., the APC will be giving a recommendation regarding another irresponsible development proposed at 161st Street and Ditch Road. Why is this so irresponsible? It doesn't meet the base financial requirements stated by the mayor to support our infrastructure and public safety. It doesn't meet base financial requirements as stated by the school. So who ends up paying for these homes? You do! It also doesn't meet many of the requirements of the Unified Development Ordinance (the city's baseline standards for new homes) and fails almost all criteria of the city's comprehensive plan for the southwest portion of the city. Why is this even being considered? The Estridge Company is the petitioner and has a history of development in the city. Some of you may have seen the donation from the Estridge Foundation to the Legacy Fund to help Westfield organizations. We assume everyone agrees that it is extremely thoughtful and generous of the Estridge Foundation to help Westfield, but this donation should have NO bearing on this new neighborhood proposal that would reap millions in profit for the Estridge Company. With these facts in mind, we also assume that this donation will have no bearing on the city's ability to separate the generosity of a family foundation and campaign contributions from the decision making process of a rezone that must be made in the best interest of Westfield tax payers and children. We need your support and voice once again! Please tell your city leaders that you are against this Irresponsible Development titled Davis PUD. They were elected by you to represent your voice.
