Allegany Preservation Society Ltd. is seeking the support of the Railfan community and public at large to purchase a temporary structure and place over Western Maryland Scenic Railroad 2-8-0 No.734, as well as service the Locomotive for its continued storage and eventual restoration.

WMSR No.734 has been in retirement since 2016, and the public has largely not seen the Locomotive since 2017. The photos that are online show that the Locomotive has received no care, as the WMSR is actively working to restore to service a former Chesapeake & Ohio Railway 2-6-6-2 No.1309.

Allegany Preservation Society Ltd. is a 501 (C) 3 Not-for-Profit organization that is based in Cumberland, Maryland and has the skills, resources, and people necessary to get WMSR No.734 out of the weather, and begin to reverse the decay that mother nature and time has inflicted upon the Locomotive.

We sincerely hope that you will sign this petition, and when its completed, it will be presented to the WMSR Board of Directors and the General Supt. for approval so that work may begin in earnest.
