March for Women’s Reproductive Rights at Western Illinois University.

The Issue

As I'm sure you are aware, women's reproductive rights are currently under attack and every women across the nation feels an intense pressure from the decisions being made in court houses by people without a uterus. While the proposed Texas law may not have been legalized it is our job to ensure that our community know our fierce stance as members of this society. Women face inequality not only in the workplace but in the doctor's offices behind closed doors. We are not told our reproductive rights and society tells us that we need to change our bodies to accommodate men in family planning.  It is time that society stops telling women that they need to change and it is time that we educate women about their reproductive rights so they can defend themselves behind those closed doors. Women will not be silenced. You cannot get us to comply with laws that disrespect our bodies. I will not let legislators tell me that I have no control over my body because they will not have to reap the consequences.

Western Illinois University needs to take a stand, more than just on social media, to show the rest of our community that we support women's reproductive rights by participating in the nationwide Women's March that is taking place on October 2nd, 2021. Please join me in marching for the rights of women to control their own bodies.
