Amputee Dog Bailey Needs To Go Home

Amputee Dog Bailey Needs To Go Home
The Issue
We the undersigned, wish for the immediate release from police custody of amputee dog Bailey who was seized from his home in Yorkshire under Breed Specific Legislation on the 21st October and should be returned to his family. Bailey has been removed from his home due to the way he looks.
Much loved two and a half year old Bailey has only three legs and is very much dependent on the care and comfort his owner and home provides; Bailey should be released from kennels and returned to his family in order that he can be cared for properly whilst he is assessed by the police under Breed Specific Legislation and in the event of a case proceeding to court.
Due to the amendment to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 in March 2015 (Dangerous Dogs Exemption Schemes (England & Wales) Order 2015) the legislation now clearly states that there is an Interim Exemption Scheme available, i.e. Doggy Bail – a ‘leave at home’ policy which can be used by the police in such a case. Part 4 of the 2015 Order allows for a dog to be released with conditions and requirements which Bailey’s owner is willing to follow if Bailey is found to be a banned 'type'.
We believe this is in the interest of Bailey's care; to ensure that his welfare needs are met and would demonstrate compassion, good welfare practice and a duty of care in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Please release Bailey to his owner and let him go home now.
