Winchburgh skatepark was built in 2009 thanks to the work of the community youth group at the time.

Since then our community of skateboarders has grown often resulting in more users than the small space can accommodate.

As the village expands the need for an outdoor space that can be used by all, free of charge grows.
We would like to gauge demand and propose a new purpose built skatepark in the current location set further back into Craigton Park (The Raws park). This could include sought after features such as full bowl, spine, rails and stair case and should include features to encourage use such as a new sheltered area, street skating flat space and lighting system.

The benefits of skateboarding far exceed that of exercise and fresh air. Skateboarding encourages creative freedom, improves confidence, helps teens and young adults make friends and teaches perseverance. The sport appeals to a wide range of participants from ages 0-99 and can be a great alternative to organised sports clubs, social settings based around alcohol or groups geared towards one particular user group.  

With skateboarding set to feature in the Olympics for the first time next year and with the growth of our local skate community it is time our skate parks evolves in tune with our growing village.
