The new logo is bad. Like really bad. It looks like it's either a tech startup, a fitness center or a hardware store. The assumption is that this change reflects the school recent change into becoming a university. However I don't believe this logo change fits with the university. To put it simply, I am trying to use nice words to describe my disappointment at the new logo. The university should change the logo immediately. At the minimum back to the old logo so they don't waste more money but a new design would be cool. Maybe make a design-a-logo contest. Also the slogans are really bad.

You can also look up the logos for Ace Hardwares and Desktop Metal. It is way too similar to those logos.
