Wendy Bell...unfairly/unjustly/wrongly fired from WTAE TV

The Issue

Wendy Bell is a veteran news anchor who has been with WTAE TV since 1998. She is a 21-time Emmy Award winner with two Edward R. Murrow awards and a National Headliner. Wendy was fired by Hearst Headquarters on 3/30/2016 for posting her opinions about a recent mass shooting in Wilkinsburg, PA, where six people were killed, including an unborn child. Wendy also commented about a young man at a local restaurant and her praise and encouragement to his manager for how well he did his job. Her initial Facebook post made several assumptions about these two incidents which one has to believe were based on her experience covering and reporting the news in and around Pittsburgh, PA . Some people accused her of racism, racial stereotyping, and being white-privileged. Others, including myself, feel she was only expressing her concerns about the unrest in our cities, states, and the USA. Wendy Bell genuinely cares about Pittsburgh and we care about her!
