The "off-leash" dog park in Karori has no fence, so dog lovers and their dogs have to rely on the good sense and training of the dogs to prevent them from escaping (with the risk of their running on to the road, or attacking other dogs or people).

A simple fence around the park would solve this, similar to the fence at Ian Galloway Park.

Another advantage would be that dogs which some owners choose to let roam freely in Karori Park, despite objections from others, would have a reasonable alternative that allowed their dogs to exercise freely, without bothering others.
