No DOC for Jairo Contreras - Let Healing Begin!
The Issue
September 23, 2018 was a terrible night for many. On that night, there was a terrible car accident by Island Grove Regional Park and a beautiful, vibrant young woman died. She & her boyfriend and love of her life were just 18. Recent HS graduates. What a pure tragedy & sudden loss of precious life in and of itself! She was a passenger in the vehicle of Jairo Contreras, at just after 9 pm that night, Jairos vehicle, travelling at a high rate of speed, collided with a white Tahoe that had failed to yield. The Tahoe fled, leaving his bumper and license plate behind. Jairo stayed at the scene, I know that everyone who knows and loves him knows that in his way, he died that night with Yesenia Uribe Frederico. Precious evidence was lost as our local Greeley Police Department/Weld County Sheriff's Office failed to find the driver of the Tahoe for several days after the accident. Was he drunk? Was he high? We won't know. Not now. Seems like the District Attorneys Office intends to make an example of Jairo Contreras. I disagree on their decision to offer Jairo 8 or so years in the Department of Corrections. Why????? I cannot think of ANY productivity in this, there is not a mandatory minimum sentence requirement here, so WHY??? He's got 0 criminal record and I say, with respect, that there isn't a court in this world that can impose a judgement in comparison to the absolute grief, pain, loss, trauma, guilt & shame Jairo gets to live out his life with! He's serving A LIFE SENTENCE. I need help. I need each and everyone of you, especially those that know Jairo and Yessie, their families, speak out with me!!! At some point the Weld County DAs Office is going to need to figure out alternative sentencing, learn to think a case like this all the way through before they file it. Use their hearts and the law, they promised us that each case would be prosecuted to protect victims and the community. They fell short. Prison is NOT ideal for a young, able bodied male of 18!!! Counterproductive, to say the least. Some of my fellow ex-cons would agree. We've been there. Please help me to speak out just as fast as you can, trial is in progress. I care if Jairo gets 8 years. I care!!! Join me.
