Help Woman Being Punished for Feeding Stray Cats

The Issue

For years, I have helped rescue, save, adopt, foster, and feed a colony of stray cats at Weisser Homes, a mobile home community where my sister lives. Little did I know, such acts of kindness could have seriously negative repercussions.

Jessica Hornberger, who has been a compassionate resident of the Weisser Homes community for over 21 years, is being forced out of her home for caring for these homeless cats. She and many of the other residents have been feeding them for as long as she can remember. The cats do not cause a problem for the residents. In fact, they keep the rodent and predator rate down. Still, without warning, the Weisser management recently notified Jessica that it will not renew her lease because she feeds them.

Jessica and her family don’t know where they will go if they lose their longtime home at Weisser.  Bear in mind, the cats were already there when Jessica moved in. It is not her fault that their population has grown over the years.  She is being punished for showing basic human kindness, something that Weisser has not been doing in recent months --  the management has taken it upon itself to start trapping these poor animals and sending them to local pounds, where their risk of being put down is frighteningly high.

We cannot let Jessica be evicted for these acts of humanity. I, for one, wish we had more people like her in this world. Please take just a moment of your time to sign and share our petition asking Weisser Homes to let Jessica and her family stay!
