Wegmans's will stop their scanning app as of September 18th. 

This is a feature I know many people rely on to get in and out of the store quickly and efficiently. I use this feature every time I go into Wegmans. 

They are stating that there is too much loss associated with people not scanning what they are bagging.

Dear Wegmans

Many stores have ways to counteract shop lifting. Many stores have people at the door checking receipts versus what is bagged. Some stores have it built in to their registers to tag a customer every so often and an employee will check bags against what has been scanned. Some stores have plain clothes officers walk the aisles to detect shop lifting. 

In most of your stores, you already employees at the self check out. You already have officers at the entrance. Train them to take their job one more step. 

I have a feeling your customer's won't mind these extra steps if they can still self scan!

Please! You truly are the best grocery store in the East. Don't take this much needed and greatly appreciated program away!!
