We want Skylar Webb as department head at Pima Community College
The Issue
As a current AAS Automotive student at Pima Community College, I was deeply saddened to learn that Skylar Webb is no longer teaching one of my classes. What concerned me most was learning that his removal from the Head of Automotive Technology position occurred while he was on winter break, ultimately leading to his resignation.
Skylar Webb was an exceptional instructor and an outstanding person. He consistently demonstrated patience, compassion, and dedication to his students. He made himself available not only to answer technical questions, but also to support students when we felt discouraged or overwhelmed. His positive attitude and encouragement fostered confidence in the shop and motivated students to continue learning even when tasks were challenging.
Skylar Webb is highly qualified for his role. He has decades of experience in the automotive field and is an ASE-certified Master Technician. He maintained positive relationships with students and colleagues and played a significant role in maintaining a productive and welcoming learning environment within the automotive department.
Many students and staff were shocked to learn that Skylar Webb was removed from his leadership position.
The removal of Skylar Webb has negatively impacted students, faculty morale, and the overall learning environment within the automotive department. Students deserve transparency, fairness, and leadership decisions that prioritize education and student success.
We respectfully call on Pima Community College administrators to review this decision, address the circumstances surrounding Skylar Webb’s removal, and consider reinstating him to the Head of Department position or otherwise rectifying the actions that led to his resignation.
By signing this petition, we stand together in support of fair treatment, transparency, and the integrity of the Automotive Technology program at Pima Community College.
