We the community of Mackay , from all suburbs and CBD want our town a place we are proud of again . The rates are the 5th highest in Queensland, we are the second biggest regional town in Queensland but we are a disgrace . Our population is 138,000 with rates averaging  $1782 Rockhampton is 85,794 rates $1730 yet Rockhampton is well maintained , landscaped and shows a city with pride . The Mackay Regional Council has neglected Mackay and we are fed up . We need landscaping , roads repaired , Riverwalk with cafes , restaurants, tourist attractions. The CBD is a disgrace with overgrown gardens . Lamberts Beach needs walkways , more viewing area , more parking . Verge gardens should be encouraged with guidelines . Industrial areas near residential should have strict noise level control after hours . Kommo Toera is neglected , no toilets and limited parking . All suburbs should be identified with signs and landscaping Entrance to Mackay from the  south  into Mackay on the Bruce Highway made attractive and welcoming  by a tree screen  hiding industrial and housing areas . An information centre as you enter Mackay . Disability access to all beaches . Any other suggestions appreciated .
