The Issue

Hundreds of thousands of American shoppers are now receiving cancellation emails instead of the international products they ordered.

Why? Because a nearly century-old trade rule—the “de minimis” exemption—has just been eliminated by the Trump administration.

This rule allowed international shipments under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free, making affordable access to small goods possible for consumers and small businesses. Now, due to the new policy, foreign postal services in over a dozen countries—including the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and most of Europe—have suspended deliveries to the U.S. altogether.

That means:

U.S. shoppers can’t order basic items from overseas sellers.
Small businesses that depend on low-cost global shipping are left scrambling.
Prices are soaring as private carriers step in—often charging 3–4x more than public post.

We are calling on the Trump administration, the U.S. Trade Representative, and Congress to restore a modernized version of the de minimis exemption for trusted trading partners!

Create a fair, efficient system for collecting customs fees without killing low-cost access!

Immediately negotiate with affected countries to restore international parcel service to the U.S.

This issue isn’t just about e-commerce. It’s about fair access, affordable goods, and consumer freedom. Americans shouldn’t lose the ability to shop globally because of a poorly implemented trade rule that helps no one and hurts millions.
