Hello my name is Aaron Reaves.  To keep this short I am a father and have kids, and family members that are students at Cleburne ISD

The sole reason of this petetion is to show you support Cleburne ISD approving and implementing conceal carry for staff members who choose to volunteer to do so. 

For those that are not familiar with a Guardian Program; a guardian program or plan that was voted in favor of by the Cleburne Board of Trustees would essentially allow the district to allow staff to conceal carry. 

Each plan can be curtailed to the needs of each district.  The district of opted to approve would create a plan for required training, follow up training, etc.  The staff can choose voluntarily to either take part to conceal carry or not at all. Also many districts opt to purchase equipment, pay for the initial training as well as the continued training…some have even opted to increase salary for those who would volunteer. 

Times are scary.  For our kids.  For our staff. The Guardian Program in no way is meant to be a first line of defense. Schools still have to continue implementing others things, procedures, etc.  

In all, this will provide a last line of defense for when ALL other protocols fail. In many cases parts of protocol do fail…while every teacher will not participate… and from year to year it could change on how many will or won’t.  But what is clear is that when it comes down to it… if my son, daughter, or even anybody on the staff if barricaded in a room … if a person makes it through … would you not want that chance to save a life?
