As Stated in The Burr Ridge Comprehensive Plan for the Future –
Burr Ridge is a high-quality suburban community with low density neighborhoods characterized by distinctive homes in natural wooded settings. Our Village accommodates residents who seek a sense of privacy in a tranquil environment. We desire to enhance the Village’s physical beauty, keeping Burr Ridge a very special place … and we believe the integrity of our community is at a crossroads.
Additionally, the Plan states “commercial uses that have minimal traffic impact on surrounding residential areas should be emphasized.” … and we are concerned we are under threat with the current Bridge proposal.
We believe the current Midwest RE Acquisitions, LLC (Bridge) proposal for a 113 acre Planned Unit Development (PUD) with 7 warehouse-type buildings totaling 1.146MILLION sq ft (42-46 ft high), 178 semi-truck docks, significant increased semi-truck and vehicular traffic (24 hrs each day/7 days each week), and numerous code variance requests – is inconsistent with the above Burr Ridge Plan and current municipal zoning codes.
This proposal will drastically increase traffic congestion on Burr Ridge’s I-55 interchange and its main artery - County Line Road. It will also affect adjacent neighborhood roads. We believe it will increase noise pollution, air pollution from vehicle emissions, create safety issues, decrease nearby residential property values, affect our children’s welfare, our wildlife, the air we breathe, and the overall feel of a community we love. An industrial complex as outlined in the Bridge petition just does not fit nestled in nearby residential developments, near our idyllic Harvester Park and the light industrial complexes we know in Burr Ridge. It will definitely compromise our “Special Place” status. We strongly encourage you to deny the application.
The promised benefits can be enticing, but we are not fooled. The overall disruption and detriment to Burr Ridge will be staggering. We say “NO” to Bridge’s massive warehouse/distribution-type/industrial/ trucking complex proposal, “NO” to requested rezoning, “NO” to 24/7 trucking access and overnight parking, and “NO” to requested Village code variances.
NOTE: Willow Springs said “NO” to Bridge with support from the Burr Ridge Trustees. Deerfield said “NO” to Bridge. The newspapers are full of stories of numerous communities lamenting the negative consequences, especially on the I-55 corridor, of allowing huge trucking warehouse buildings. Burr Ridge filed OPPOSITION to DuPage Co on the proposed truck stop on Route 83.
Burr Ridge needs to oppose the proposed Bridge project.
