Prior to 2017 road flooding was not a problem or regular occurrence on Checkley Lane, drainage maps over 100 years old show unimpeded drainage from the Checkley Lane to Checkley Brook across the adjacent land. In 2017 extensive landscape re-engineering work was undertaken on this land. Since this time there has been serious disruption of drainage from the road at CW3 9DA to Checkley Brook. This has resulted in regular road closures and disruption to local residents and road users and serious damage on numerous occasions to many vehicles caused by the flooding.

We require Stafforsdshire County Council Highways and their Legal Advisors to use the power of the 1991 Land Drainage Act Section 24 to undertake immediate action to enforce the necessary remedial drainage work to be undertaken to correct this drainage problem preventing further disruption to local residents and damage to vehicles.
