For the past seven years, I have dedicated all my energy to building a successful company as a seller on Etsy. I started this journey alone, and today I’m proud to employ 42 hardworking individuals. But despite these milestones, recent actions by Etsy have made it increasingly difficult for sellers like me to sustain our businesses.

This isn’t just about me—it’s about the livelihoods of my employees and countless other sellers who rely on Etsy to support their families.

Let me be clear: my shop has not been shut down. I’m still in business. But I’ve been flooded with messages from fellow sellers who are suffering—whose shops were suspended without warning, whose appeals went unheard, and whose years of work were erased in seconds. This petition is not for me. It’s for them. Even if your shop is open today, it could be gone tomorrow — without warning or explanation.

At a time when the economy is already strained—with rising labor costs, shipping fees, and production expenses—one would expect Etsy to stand by its sellers. Instead, it feels as though the platform has turned its back on us. Policies seem erratic and poorly implemented, causing confusion and frustration. When we seek help, Etsy’s own support staff often seem unsure of how to assist, leaving us in a constant state of uncertainty.

During one of the recent earnings call, Etsy’s CEO was asked by an investor about the recent wave of shop closures. His response? That new sellers quickly replace those who leave. This statement felt shockingly dismissive. Behind every closed shop are people—employees, families, and years of hard work. To reduce that to a number and say we’re easily replaced is not just cold, it’s deeply unfair.

Sellers are the backbone of this platform. We invest our time, money, and creativity to make Etsy a thriving marketplace. Yet Etsy’s recent decisions seem to disregard our efforts and endanger our ability to earn a living. We are not just users—we are stakeholders, and our voices matter.

This petition is a plea for Etsy to listen. We call on Etsy to organize a meeting—online or in person—where sellers can share concerns, ask questions, and contribute to shaping the policies that impact our lives. Transparent communication and real collaboration can ensure the success of both the platform and the people who power it.

United, we can call for change. Sign this petition to help make Etsy a place where sellers are valued, respected, and supported.
