The Issue

Over the last month we have all seen that EKHUFT has been in the news about multiple failings in Maternity, moving stroke services to Ashford and now they want to close the Urgent Treatment Centre at K&C as well at 8pm.  This means that all Canterbury residents and surrounding towns and villages will have to go to Ashford or Margate A&E and we’ve all seen what they are like.  They can’t cope now let alone with even more patients.  The thought of going to A&E’s at Ashford or Margate actually terrifies a lot of people, because of corridor care!

I have seen Rosie Duffield and Sir Roger Gale are strongly against this and also CHEK.  I’ve read all the comments on her page and the Kentonline story last week and you are all saying we need to fight this, so we have to start somewhere!  We need to lobby EKHUFT & the ICB to stop them, bombard them with letters protesting against this which will slow things down so we can organise protest marches through Canterbury, etc.

please sign and ask your family and friends to sign too.  My parents live 5 mins from K&C and if the UTC closes at night it’s a long journey to Ashford or Margate and not all people can drive.  They are putting people’s lives at risk doing this and they cannot be allowed to do it!

With Christ Church and Kent Uni less than 5 mins from K&C as well as the thousands of new builds, this is totally unacceptable.  Canterbury is a Cathedral City with hundreds of thousands of visitors and needs a more modern hospital.  Build a new one EKHUFT with your millions given you from the Government , stop spending it on unnecessary  things like bank nursing, solar panels, and a stroke unit at Ashford, when we have a perfectly good one here in Canterbury.  Consult with your residents for once.

If this goes ahead, this could be the end of K&C for good.
