We need lighted crosswalks on highway 12

This is something that is becoming more of a need, especially in the darker winter months. Visibility for crosswalks in the springsarea is terrible and it is becoming increasingly dangerous for pedestrians across the road. We need Caltrans to agree to install flashing lights at these crosswalks as it is inexcusable that they have not been done at this point. For all of those who walk in the springs It’s so important to be visible when crossing the busy highway. 

There’s plenty of times where it is too dark in some areas to see if there is a person there and having a flasher or some kind of a signal would be crucial in helping increase pedestrian safety in our area.

The crosswalks on Highway 12 which need these lighting additions include but are not limited to:

• Waterman Avenue (near parsons hardware)
• Central Avenue (near El Molino Central and Andy’s Liquor)
• Sierra Drive (Boyes Food Center)

The purpose of this petition is to bring this forwards to the board of supervisors and all the Springs MAC to then put forward to Caltrans. I’m hoping that with multiple signatures we may have power in numbers and can get this pushed up sooner rather than later. Pedestrian and safety is super important!
