Elephant birds are part of a group of giant, extinct, flightless birds much like todays ostriches or emus. With heights around 10-feet making them one of the largest birds of all time. They used to populate the island of Madagascar but have been extinct for the last few thousand years due to humans. 

I think elephant birds are not represented that much in the community. When you think of an extinct animal or even an extinct flightless bird, most people often think of the mindless dodo birds or the fearsome terror birds, yet one of the most amazing of these is rarely mentioned. Elephant birds have the largest recorded egg in animal history even exceeding that of a dinosaur, as its volume is around 2 gallons! The bird itself may be the largest bird to ever exist, but not many people know about this. 

Many would agree with saying that the elephant bird deserves something as it was unjustly taken from this beautiful planet because of us. A statue would be amazing as not only would you be aware of the bird, but it would be even more present at it's full scale. For where to put the statue and what it's made of is still a discussion to be had, if anything I was thinking we put it in a popular area such as Washington DC and that it should be made out of obsidian to project more. Again this is still an argument for later but first you must help us reach our goal.
