"Wake Up", Baltimore City Homicide Unit, there's a "Killer on the Loose".

The Issue

At the age of 38yrs old Robert J. Gladden III was shot 4 times at point blank range in the head on October 23, 2020. At 11:23pm on Sheridan Avenue in Baltimore City, Maryland someone decided to play God and took away a father of 5. Robert was a very loving, intelligent, protective provider for his family. Now his 2 youngest boys have to grow up without their dad.

In 2020 Baltimore City had 335 murders with only a 38.4% clearance rate. Almost a year later a family member reached out to the detective assigned to the case to get answers on to why no one has yet been arrested or to receive any updates on the case. The detective didn't even know his name. It could only be assumed that Robert's file was just sitting in the bottom of the stack of unsolved murders in Baltimore City. As the family member continued to call the detective began giving false hope and information stating they did have a suspect in mind and also had some evidence. Of course, the family began to get hopeful. Only for the family to call back and the detective say, "Sorry, I had my cases mixed up. We do not have a suspect."  Then the detective ended the call with a sarcastic remark, "But hey keep calling though". Not once have the detective reached out to the family.

It's has now been 2years since the murder and still nothing. Not even one telephone call from the Baltimore City Homicide Detective. Wow shows how much they really care. "Remember", the detective "assigned" to the case didn't even know Robert name. Imagine your relative life cut short with his brains spluttered on the streets and the detective didn't even take the time to remember his name. Obviously, the family calling is not enough to get the Baltimore City Homicide detective attention. Will you please stand with the family by signing this petition?

"Wake Up", Baltimore City Homicide Unit, there's a "Killer on the Loose".

"UPDATE"

The family had a meeting with the homicide detective assigned to the case along with a victim advocate. The meeting didn't really reveal any new information, but it did give a different insight to the family on how to proceed. The family understands that nothing will bring Robert back and really wanted justice, but after meeting with the detective it was realized they were looking in the wrong direction. The detective stated that they may have a suspect in mind but haven't had a chance or enough evidence to even question him. He also stated (paraphrasing) that the suspect "maybe dead in an alley somewhere, and let the trash take out the trash, right."

Now we all understand that the Baltimore City Homicide Unit gets over 300+ murders a year and can only imagine how overwhelmed they must be. When the detective was making those statements, he said it as if that would give the family some type of pleasure/closure. But what it did was it gave the Family a Wake-Up Call! It showed what's in his mind and heart. The absolute last thing the family wants is for another family is to feel the pain that they are enduring. The family want justice not another black man lost to violence. Revenges is mine, said, "The Lord".

The family is no longer seeking assistance from the BCPD- Homicide Unit. The family is now seeking for the community to truly stand together in this fight to "Stop the Killing" of our own. We are killing each other on an everyday basis. It Must Stop. Somehow, someway we have to figure out how to save us from us. It's not the police job to care. It's the families/residents in our community to stand up and speak up for what is right.

Are you really willing and ready to join this fight to "Stop the Killing of Each Other"?
