2 young boys crashed their bike in an ongoing construction on road in Vikhroli, Mumbai. The pillion died on the spot and the rider passed away on the way to the hospital and was declared dead at Rajawadi hospital, Ghatkopar.

This incident occurred in the year 2012, my mum after that incident told me that things will get better in future, now, 13 years later when we look back, for me, things have got worse only.

There is an 11% rise in road accidents in Mumbai year on year as per survey reports. Out of which 78% accidents are of 2 wheelers. 

This is not a article for people to know what is right and what is wrong. We understand that better roads are basic needs we deserve to get that as a citizen. My wife and mum are scared everyday till the time I don't reach home in the evening or don't reach office in the morning. My wife text's me every time I leave from home or office saying "Text me when you reach", not because of anything else, because she is scared that I'll get caught in 1 of the potholes and die.

Many of you would laugh after reading this article and would say "Kuch nahi hota yah sab petition se", and looking at the records and success ratio, we too want that.

This message is not for you, this is for the authorities to understand and act fast. We just want your sign off on because you are affected by this as well.

Share this in your society, friends, college, school, office groups. Share this with your local corporator and tell them about the consequences that can occur in the future.

For the authorities (BMC  (Mumbai) / TMC (Thane) / KDMC (Kalyan) / NMMC (Navi Mumbai) / MBMC (Mira Bhayander) / VVCMC (Vasai Virar) / PMC (Palghar) /MMRDA/PWD/NHAI) - We don't want to protest. We don't want a civil war either. But Mumbai/MMR as a city has had enough of bad roads infra. It is time for us to live in a better and safe environment. We are not politicians. We are not backed up by anyone. We are the daily road commuters of Mumbai. We don't have any face. Check that pothole on your way back home, we just want it not to be there. If you are with us, you have our full support and cooperation. If you think you can just shrug off this time as well, please rethink. There are 27 Lacs odd 2 wheelers in Mumbai only, MMR has around 50 Lacs. Imagine the outrage if this gets sparked into a major protest.

We are not warning you, we are suggesting to please act before this turn into an outrage.

By now you would've understood that this petition is not for the people, the people are just signing off and spreading the word so that this petition reaches you guys, it is for you to act fast.

Keep looking at the number of supporters, not as a support, but rather as no. of people standing against you.

We take a due date as 15th of August 2024 or getting 1 lakh petition signs here, which ever is later. We will further update the next course of action incase things are not being attended, however we don't want to do that.

A glimpse on next course of action -

• No Road No Toll (No blocking to vehicle on tolls)
• A rally to mantralaya with 1000+ bikers (Park the bikes on important junctions as a part of protest accross Mumbai and MMR/Park the bikes on every potholes in MMR region, if the complete road is of potholes, we block the road)
• Vote for NOTA (We make them majority and ensure that the constituency is dissolved where NOTA is majority)
