Senator Richard Burr used his position as Senate Intelligence Committee Chair to profit off of advanced knowledge of the dangers posed by Covid-19 to our nation and economy. Just a few weeks before telling wealthy donors in private that the global spread of the disease would be “akin to the 1918 pandemic”, while in a position to receive daily briefings on Covid-19, Senator Richard Burr sold off between $582,029 and $1.56 million in stock. During the same period of time Burt went on television and repeatedly reassured Americans that our nation was prepared for any public health threat.

While the stock market plunged, and American workers lost their life savings, Richard Burr used his position to profit off of his knowledge. He did this while lying to his constituents and fellow Americans.

This petition demands that the United States Senate hold Senator Richard Burr accountable and expel him from their membership. He is a man who lacks the moral compass and character to serve the American people. Burr is untrustworthy and unfit to represent the hard-working people of North Carolina.   

We demand that Senator Burr be formally expelled , not allowed to resign, so that history notes what this man did in a time of crisis.
