We Demand Reform at Apple Valley CA Animal "Shelter"

We Demand Reform at Apple Valley CA Animal "Shelter"

The Issue

The Apple Valley California Animal Shelter is known for discouraging The pledge system  it has come to our attention that several dog and cat rescues have pulled animals from the shelter unbeknownst to them that had huge amounts of pledges  The shelter never mentions this because they do not approve of the pledge system  One wonders how they think rescues support themselves  We demand that the shelter at least mention the fact that there are pledges on these animals and that when they reach out to rescues that pledges are mentioned

Our second concern is regarding disclosure of outcomes  This is a publicly funded facility hence said public should have the right to know the disposition/outcome of the animals.  There is a publicly published disposition report that is sorted by intake date that is posted monthly but there are only five months worth of reports that one can access for free  After that a member of the public must pay for that information. We demand that this practice be eliminated and that outcomes and disclosures be transparent

We have also had issues where an animal has been sick and we have repeatedly asked for further information about the nature of the illness and the shelter has refused to respond  We demand that this practice cease immediately  We are networking in order to save these animals and we question the agenda of the shelter based on their lack of disclose and transparency to the public.

NEW ADDITION TO PETITION:

Coincidentally once networkers started asking questions and becoming proactive in recruiting rescues to save animals the shelter chose to post a networking thread of a private individual on their official site in an effort to invite harassment and embarrass the networker. Upon refusal to remove this post, ten days later the shelter was served a "cease and desist" and they immediately removed the posting.

It was shortly after this that a networking page for the animals at this facility was "mysteriously" and "coincidentally" falsely reported to Facebook for impersonating a business and was unpublished by Facebook. Given the timing and series of events we must conclude that this was retaliatory in nature on the part of the shelter and there is a petition circulating demanding Facebook to reinstate the networking page.

This is the level of pettiness and lack of professionalism we are dealing with folks. Haven't you had enough?

We demand an investigation and audit of all events with full public disclosure of findings!
