Growing up in the UK as an African or Caribbean descendant, I have witnessed firsthand the persistent realities of systematic racism that continue to affect our communities. Despite numerous promises from governmental authorities, tangible change remains elusive. It is disheartening to see how systemic inequalities in education, employment, and the justice system relentlessly undermine our potential and restrict our opportunities for self-determination.

For generations, we have endured a system that does not fully recognize our contributions and continuously marginalizes our voices. Statistics reveal that people from African and Caribbean backgrounds are disproportionately affected by unemployment and receive harsher penalties in the criminal justice system compared to their white counterparts. Education disparities reflect a similar trend, with children from our communities being less likely to achieve educational milestones due to biased curriculums and lack of representation in teaching staff.

Our dream is simple: to establish a sovereign land or state where we can develop a society rooted in justice, equality, and respect for African and Caribbean identities. This is not just about escaping a broken system, but about empowering our future generations to thrive in a space that is truly theirs. Other nations, like Israel for the Jewish people or Liberia for African Americans, have shown that self-governance can be a pathway to social and economic progress.

The establishment of such a state would enable us to focus on culturally-appropriate education, create fair and unbiased economic opportunities, and design a justice system that honors our humanity. It will allow us to nurture our cultural heritage and instill pride in our roots, fostering communities that can contribute positively to the world.

The task ahead is undoubtedly monumental, but so is our resolve. We believe in the possibility of building a better future, one where our children can walk without fear of prejudice, and our people can interact with the world on equal footing. Such a state could be the turning point for African and Caribbean individuals disillusioned with the current societal structure in the UK.
