We REQUEST a bridge between VOSMAN & Ext 5 for school children to be able to crossover safely. This is the same bridge we have been asking for for the last 20 years of our 29 years of Democracy - in terms of Section 10 and Section 152 (1)(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa Act 106 of 1996, Section 19 (1)(2) of the Municipal Structures Act 117 of 1998 and Section 73 (1)(a)(b).

For years, going to school has been a struggle for the learners of VOSMAN who have to go to school in Empucukweni Secondary, Nancy Shiba Primary School, and the other Schools which we have not mentioned. Daily, these learners walk a 2km distance filled with ditches and a body of water that fills up when it rains and makes it hard for them to cross and get to school.

Besides the risk of falling into the ditches and being swept away, learners also face being crime statistics. On rainy days, thugs wait for learners who struggle to pass and use this time to rob them. It is unacceptable that children have to fear going and coming back from school while they are trying to learn.

Over the years, the level of crime has escalated in this place and it is not child friendly. This is not a conducive place for living and learning without the proper infrastructure.

Please sign this petition to urge the Mayor and Premier to grant us this much-awaited relief to the community of VOSMAN. It will help our children.
