Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Republicans in the state legislature believe we have to gut the state's educational resources and social services because of a budget deficit.

By refusing the fix the State's revenue problems they are about to cause deep and sustained harm to the state.

Jon Ralston recently described the situation this way:

The scariest aspect of all of this is the lack of engagement by a public that either gradually or immediately will be struck by a fiscal train wreck that will derail the state's ability to provide a reasonable education system, robust social safety net and viable physical infrastructure.

Let the Governor know that the public IS engaged and won't stand for a budget that guts our future without addressing alternative ways to restore the state's economic balance. Our tax structure relies on cyclical revenue sources that have been a recognized problem for decades. Lawmakers need to stop relying on taxing those who visit our state and develop a fair and equitable tax structure that provldes for the common good.
