From: The Lovettsville Community in Support of Our Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Family.

We, the undersigned taxpaying residents of Lovettsville and Loudoun County, whose volunteers are our family members, formally petition for the newly named Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Station 12 to retain the rightful name: Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12 (https://www.facebook.com/LovettsvilleVFR/) (https://www.loudountimes.com/news/new-lovettsville-fire-station-breaks-ground/article_996a86a6-ff21-11ed-ad86-7f09d38735a2.html) (https://www.lovettsvillehistoricalsociety.org/index.php/local-history/houses-of-lovettsville/lovettsville-volunteer-fire-and-rescue/)

Since 1966, Lovettsville’s volunteers have served our community with unwavering dedication, later joined by career professionals to form a unified force committed to protecting our families, homes, and livelihoods. More than emergency responders, these dedicated individuals have been a vital part of our community’s fabric. They have provided vital emergency response support on a moments notice when we’ve faced crises and at town events, such as the 4th of July celebration, Oktoberfest, Mayfest, as well as hosting cherished traditions like the Santa Breakfast and Fire Prevention Week events.

The Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station 12 is more than a building; it is a symbol of sacrifice, courage, and community commitment. Our first responders are not just service providers; they are our neighbors, friends, and family. They are our brothers, sisters, parents, and children—true members of our Lovettsville family. The community expected the long-standing name to remain, yet Loudoun County renamed the station without notice and our input, disregarding its history and identity. Just as the Lovettsville Library and Lovettsville Community Center proudly reflect our town, so too should our fire and rescue station.

Stripping Lovettsville’s name erases our identity, dishonors past and present volunteers, and weakens the connection between our community and those who risk their lives to protect it. Fundamentally, as taxpayers and stakeholders, we respectfully require that Loudoun County recognize the history, service, and heart behind this station by restoring its rightful name: Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12.

Why This Matters:

For decades, Lovettsville Fire and Rescue 12 has been more than an emergency response unit—it has been a pillar of safety, dedication, and selfless service. Founded in 1966 by local volunteers, this station stands as a beacon of protection where neighbors serve neighbors in times of crisis. Our firefighters and EMTs are more than names on a roster; they are community leaders who put their lives on the line for all of us in Lovettsville.

This tradition continues today as volunteers and career professionals work side by side, ensuring that every call for help is met with expertise and urgency. This station is not just another county facility; it is Lovettsville’s lifeline, responding to fires, medical emergencies, and disasters with dedication that extends far beyond duty.

Preserving and Respecting Our Lovettsville Identity:

Lovettsville is more than a place on the map—it is a community built on strong values, pride, and a deep sense of belonging. Our town’s name is displayed on the Lovettsville Library, Lovettsville Community Center, and other institutions that define our identity. It is only fitting that our fire and rescue station, a cornerstone of our safety and well-being, bears the name of the people it serves in Lovettsville.

By removing “Lovettsville” from the station’s name, Loudoun County severs the connection between the station and the very community that built, depends on, and funds it. This is not a simple bureaucratic change—it is a dismissal of our town’s identity and the legacy of service that has defined this fire and rescue station for generations. Maintaining the Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12 name is about respect, continuity, and ensuring our station remains recognized for what it truly is: a dedicated service to Lovettsville.

Honoring the Legacy and Dedication of Our First Responders:

The history of the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station 12 is woven into our town’s fabric. The first responders who built this station did so with determination and sacrifice, answering every call as a promise to their neighbors.

Their legacy endures today, as both volunteers and career emergency responders continue to serve with courage and commitment. The station they built, sustained, and expanded should continue to carry our name. To remove “Lovettsville” from the station is to erase the contributions of those who have selflessly given their time, effort, and even their lives to protect this town since 1966.

This station is more than a modern county facility—it is a testament to generations of community-driven service. Maintaining and respecting the name as Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12 ensures their dedication is remembered, their sacrifices honored, and their work continues to inspire future generations of our community first responders.

A Call for Action:

We, the residents of Lovettsville, require that our fire and rescue station reflect the town it serves. We call on Loudoun County to restore our station’s rightful name: Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12.

This is not just a request—it is a rightful acknowledgment of the commitment, history, and sacrifice of those who have and continue to serve our community.

We are Lovettsville, in Loudoun County. Our fire and rescue station should reflect that truth: Lovettsville Fire and Rescue Station 12.
