2 years ago my sister was killed by a drunk driver, he was only sentenced to 4 years in prison and 5 years of probation and ONLY because I spoke in court and the judge could not justify a shorter sentence when I was finished. the maximum sentence is only 5 years. Drunk drivers have killed over 300 more people in the state of Maryland since then. I wrote to our representatives for almost a year before ever getting a response and the response I got was we're not going to take up this issue. Apparently your lives are worth less than 5 years of the life of whoever decides to drink and drive and then kills you as a result. With your help we can change the maximum sentence from 5 years to 10-15. 28 people die every day in the United States because someone decided to drink and drive and their families have to suffer that loss and this disgraceful injustice on top of that loss. DUI "accidents" are not accidents at all, they are the direct result of a personal choice. Let's hold people accountable for that choice! The next person killed by a drunk driver could be you, ask yourself if you want your family to go through this same hell!
