Preservation and Rehabilitation of A.J. Lloyd Building

The Issue

The A.J. Lloyd Building served as Wayne County School's first consolidated high school, and later as the district's only Middle School for many years. It is a magnificent structure that serves as a landmark to public education in Wayne County. Built in 1940 by FDR's Work Progress Administration, it was the start of what Wayne County Schools is today. Furthermore, in 2013, the property was listed as part of the National Register of Historic Places due to it's significance and structural integrity. It deserves to be rehabilitated and preserved.

Many old school buildings just like this one have been preserved and rehabilitated into amazing facilities such as apartments, locations centered around community growth and development, and some even brought back in to the realm of local school district use in office capacities.

There are endless possibilities for this historic building, we just have to let it be known that it is important to our community for this structure to not only survive for another 80 years, but to thrive as well! It would be right by us to make sure that this building is given it's proper use once again. It is much too large and significant to our county to watch just waste away.
