32,000 and still climbing...
Hi All.
We've been a bit quiet while we wait for Janek Gazecki to lodge his DA with Waverley Council. While nothing lodged as yet, Janek does seem to be stepping up his PR campaign, so it's possible he will lodge it soon.
If you are a Waverley/Wentworth resident or a Bondi Beach lover, can you send the Council a quick email today?
Rumour has it that Gazeki is also apparently targeting other beaches - Maroubra, La Perouse and the Northern Beaches have been mentioned.
There are a few things you can do to help in the interim:
1. Email Waverley Council to voice your objection to the Amalfi Club Proposal. We have drafted a response template which you are welcome to use and is posted below (and on the website)
2. A web page is being setup which will also have regular updates, information on how you can help, News, FAQ, templates etc. Please bookmark the page and visit it regularly FreeBondi!
3. If you haven't already please join the Facebook group WE OPPOSE AMALFI BEACH CLUB - Action Group
Thanks for your continued support, Let's keep Bondi Free!

Subject: Objection to Amalfi Beach Club Proposal
As a local resident/regular user of Bondi Beach and a signer of the petition opposing the Amalfi Beach Club proposal (Change.org/FreeBondi), I would like to register my objection:
- It's unaustralian to reserve a space on a public beach and charge for access regardless of what services may be offered for the fee
- Bondi is packed to the hilt during the summer months, on an ordinary pre-covid day up to 40,000 people visit the beach on a single day. COVID has already have an impact on those numbers, with people turned away on the Labour day public holiday, so reducing space for a privileged few who can pay is unacceptable
- Encouraging the consumption of alcohol on the beach can only result in a nightmare for LifeSavers and risks yet another insurance payout by Waverley Council in the event someone is injured
- Loud music blaring on the beach is noise pollution detracts from everyone else's enjoyment
While there have been claims that the Amalfi Club will bring people and jobs to Bondi, the only business that stands to gain from this proposal is the Amalfi Club. - While Janek refused to divulge the details of his business model, he has admitted that the staff and kitchens he plans on using will be used are the same used for his Polo events.
I urge you to listen to the tens of thousands of people who want to keep Bondi free and accessible for everyone.
Kind Regards
