If you live on Wauwatosa’s eastside, you may not be familiar with the Liberty Foundry (formerly Grede’s), but you've probably smelled it - that scorched-sand-smell you've probably inhaled when exiting Metcalfe's grocery store or the other shops nearby.

We want a solution in which neighbors and the Liberty Foundry can better co-exist. The good news is that there may be a solution!

If the City of Wauwatosa installs a "properly-elevated monitoring station on adjacent city-owned property," our city could track emissions data from the Liberty Foundry and report any unacceptable results to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which could hold Liberty Foundry accountable through penalties for noncompliance. 

No one wants Liberty Foundry to get in trouble. Businesses and people should live in harmony together. But it's time for to say "farewell to the smell!" If you want to stop the smell in East Tosa, please sign this petition. Let’s ask the city of Wauwatosa to carefully consider adding this monitoring station, or other alternatives so we can stop the smell.
