Process a Tree Preservation Order for Mad Man's Wood

The Issue

Mad Man's Wood in Dunmore East was bequeathed to the people of Dunmore over a hundred years ago and its deeds and associated maps are held in trust by a local 'Woods and Parks' committee.

A land grab has been made by an adjacent businessman, land owner and developer. Mature trees have been cut down and a boundary has been destroyed. A sizable area has been scoured of its flora and fauna. A road has been laid through the wood and a locked gate erected to deny public access. An 'Adverse Possession' order is also being sought by the developer.

This wood is a wonderful Amenity and unique asset not just for the people of Dunmore but for all citizens and visitors alike". It must not be allowed to be removed from public ownership for private gain. It must be kept in the Public realm for the benefit of all, including future generations.

You can help by signing the petition and making submissions in support of the 'Preservation Order', to the Environment and Planning Officer, c/o Waterford Co. Council, Dungarvan Waterford.
