Tell Xfinity to remove their monopolistic Data Caps on internet service
The Issue
It seems like Comcast is the only internet provider in Bellevue, WA that imposes a DATA CAP on their internet service. This data limit is low enough so that residents who stream their cable TV (instead of having Comcast provide cable TV,) are always get tagged with overages.
Comcast does not apply the data caps universally nationwide. They seem to do it in cities that they can get away with it. Especially in places where they have almost a monopoly on coverage.
Most importantly, the data cap is a monopolistic practice and almost forces people to turn to Comcast for their cable TV. Other providers of streaming cable are practically frozen out. If you have Comcast cable TV you can leave 6 TV's on different channels 24hours a day and not exceed their data limit. (they don't count TV as data as long as you have Comcast Cable TV.
Yet, I end up going over the data cap with only three TV's and carefully monitoring the usage so that TV's are never left running unwatched. Since we all have jobs, it is not like we are watching TV all day long. Much more data is going through Comcast’s network to their Cable TV subscribers by far than with my internet only connection.
Other Streaming providers like AT&T, Peacock TV (NBC), Google TV, Sling TV, Philo TV, fubo TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crackle, Hulu, Pluto TV and others are at a severe disadvantage because of Comcast's monopolistic and arbitrary internet data cap.
