Petition for DEFY Silverdale to open as Youth Development Program
The Issue
DEFY Silverdale has gone to great lengths and expense to make sure we can safely provide the Youth Development Program for Pre-12th grade kids in the Kitsap area. We ask for your support by signing this petition.
When we were not allowed to open DEFY Extreme Sports because it is classified as Indoor Recreation, the State Business Team suggested that we open the facility to provide child care as long as we followed the guidelines that they had on their website. We went through all the guidelines and determined that we qualify to open as a Youth Development Program offering "activities and experiences that help youth develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive abilities." We set up our facility to follow all the health, safety and key procedures for reducing potential exposures to COVID 19.
Other than the suggestion (thus written permission) from the WA Business Team to choose this option, there was nothing in the https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/1600/coronavirus/DOH-OSPI-DYCF-SchoolsChildCareGuidance.pdf that required that we were to obtain any other departments permission or do anything other than follow the guidelines printed in the document.
