Kehlani on The Ellen Show

Kehlani on The Ellen Show
The Issue
Kehlani is a 20 year old, R&B singer and songwriter from Oakland, California. Kehlani was in a group called Poplyfe on America's Got Talent in the year of 2011, which they were finalist. Kehlani's background is very sad and heart touching. Her dad died at a very young age and her mom was a drug addict. Kehlani grew up with her aunt Tanya. She was going back and fourth to sleeping on couches with her best friend Edward Hajari and would steal food from grocery stores and get kicked out, athough she never failed to see the best in things and knew that someone else had it worse, inspiring her to be better.
She released her first mixtape, Cloud 19, in 2014. This mixtape was listed among Complex's "50 Best Albums of 2014." Around January 2015, she toured with G-Eazy and then released her second mixtape, You Should Be Here, via Soundcloud that following spring. She established her own record, Tsunami, and teamed up with Atlantic Records. During the summer, she was headlining her own tour and sold out almost every city. She later toured in Europe and sold out almost every show there as well, as well as with her hometown theatre in less than 30 minutes. She got the cover of The Fader magazine and a Grammy Nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
