WarnerMedia; Make Ed, Edd, N’ Eddy available on HBO Max

The Issue

Ed, Edd, N’ Eddy was a Canadian-American animated series following the misadventures of three junior high-age boys and their pursuit of jawbreaker candies. The series premiered on Cartoon Network in 1999 and ran for 5 seasons before being concluded with a TV movie (Ed, Edd, N’ Eddy’s Big Picture Show) in 2009. With a 10 year run, EENE is Cartoon Network’s longest running original series. The series also, over the course of it’s run, won numerous industry awards, and was critically acclaimed.

So why, with all these accolades, has the series pretty much been forgotten by the companies that presented it?

Only the first two seasons were released on DVD in the USA and they are now out of print and nearly impossible to find. The whole series was released on DVD in Thailand but good luck trying to track down a copy. Outside of seasons 3 and 4 being made available for a short time on Netflix, the Ed boys have never been found on a streaming service. The only legal way of enjoying the series is buying the series on iTunes. However, that will set you back about $105. And even then, the “lost episode” that aired in 2008 and all the specials are not available through iTunes.

Prior to HBO Max’s launch, a video was posted on Twitter hyping classic CN shows for the service. EENE was included in this video package. However, as of July 28, two months after launch, the series is nowhere to be found and is ALSO not on the list of content coming to the service in August (and while we’re at it, EENE was NOT the only series included in said package that is nowhere to be found). I’m sure the series is eventually coming but WarnerMedia’s inability to give any sort of update on when is a little disheartening to the still loyal fans of this beloved series.

I’m petitioning all the companies and their CEOs directly responsible with the series, the network it aired on, and the streaming service it’s been teased as coming to for one of two things.

1; add the series to HBO Max if it is no longer planned to be. Or 2; give an update on why it’s taking so long and give an estimate of when to expect it.

Looking forward to any responses!
