Have Marvel’s Carnage as a guest character in MK 11.
The Issue
Mortal Kombat, one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time. We’ve all heard of it in some way. Many of us have played, shouting’GET OVER HERE’ as Scorpion pulls an opponent towards him or ‘Toasty’ after performing an uppercut. The franchise has even had a few crossovers, most notably in the form of guest characters. From Freddy Krueger and Kratos in MK9, Jason Voorhees, The Predator, Alien, and Leatherface in MKX, to Terminator in MK11, with Joker and Spawn on the way. True, some may be skeptical about characters like that in the Mortal Kombat series, but they’ve proven to fit pretty well in its roster. Today, however, I’d like to suggest a character. No, not Ultra Instinct Shaggy, as entertaining it’d be. I’d like to suggest Marvel’s Carnage as a DLC character for MK 11. For those unaware, Carnage is a serial killer wearing a suit similar to Venom, and has gone onto menace much of the marvel comics universe, including Spider-Man. With his unsettling blood red appearance, psychotic mind set, and the ability to shapeshift into all manner of bladed weapons, Carnage has become one of Marvel’s most memorable villains. It is my belief that given the level of violence this character is capable of, he is best suited to guest star in MK 11. I know many of you are skeptical about this actually coming to fruition, the main argument being whether Disney, the current owner of Marvel Comics, or Sony Pictures, the company that own the rights to Carnage, would agree to it. Though when you think about it, it could prove to be profitable for them to do so. Carnage in Mortal Kombat means Marvel fans will express more interest in the game, encouraging more copies to be sold, and Marvel could use the DLC to promote their newest comic event ‘Carnage Unleashed’ motivating casual players to consider reading it. Sony could use it to promote the sequel to 2018’s Venom, which is set to feature Carnage. It’s because of this, I believe it’s possible for the parties involved to come to a reasonable agreement that allows Carnage to be featured as a guest character. Carnage could also make for a fun character to play as. His shapeshifting and savage fighting style would be interesting to see in a fighting game, and the potential fatalities and brutalities he could pull off are practically limitless. In conclusion, Carnage seems to be the best choice for a dlc character in Mortal Kombat. If you share my opinion on the matter, please consider singing so that our voice may be heard by the right people.
