Johnny Depp is in a strange place right. Pirates of the Carribean will be rebooted without him despite the fact that he was the earth of those movies. And now we learn that Warner Bros asked him to leave the Fantastic Beasts saga.

This is wrong for multiple reasons. Some concerning Johnny Depp himself, some relating to the continuity and logic of the story.

Why did he have to leave ? We all know Johnny Depp faced troubles in the recent years. Despite being one of the most talented and protean actor of our time, he's a human being. Just a human being with flaws and problems. In his private life he faced documented and proved abuses from a despicable person who tried to destroy his reputation and livelihood. That person went on to leech on another rich and famous man while keeping the movie parts she managed to get despite her lack of talent. This is wrong. This is victim blaming.

We started an era we wanted more fair and equal neverminding genders, races or social status. This goes all ways. And Johnny Depp should be given the same support and understanding we want abused women to get. How would we feel learning that an abused woman lost her job because her situation was made public and her employer felt embarassed ? Adding humiliation, social and professionnal isolation to someone who suffers isn't right.

Warner Bros is showing a real lack of respect and humanity towards Johnny Depp but also a lack of respect towards the fans. Johnny Depp being the incredible actor he is marked Gellert Grindelwald as his own. Just like the brilliant Richard Harris made Dumbledore his before his sad passing. Fans never liked switch of actors in prominent characters and the usual circumvoluted explanation that goes with it. This is the sign of a declining franchise everytime.

Being in a health crisis that hurts most businesses, industries and artists we can all say 2020 isn't our best year. But it is a great time to have faith in the future, to show humanity and compassion. And for a business like Warner Bros to invest in its best actors instead of dumping them at the worst time despite the piles of money those actors allow them to make. We want Johnny Depp to keep his part because we want the Fantastic Beasts to be a success. We want Johnny Depp to keep his part because we want 2021, 2022 to be better and to bring us back to movie theaters. We want Johnny Depp to keep his part because he's the victim and he deserves help and support.
