Who is affected?

Warfleet Road has been closed to motorists since 23rd February 2024, after a section of the road and the wall alongside it collapsed. The road provides direct access to Dartmouth town centre for Dartmouth residents and to those from surrounding villages, for businesses and visitors – particularly those visiting Dartmouth Castle. It is a vital route that gives the emergency services easy access to residents in the vicinity.

What is at stake?

• It is a vital route for emergency services.

• It prevents easy access to and from Dartmouth town centre.

• Traffic has increased on nearby unsuitable roads, causing surface damage/congestion/accidents.

• It adversely affects local businesses/contractors/deliveries, and tourism that is a vital part of the local economy.

Why is now the time to act?

It has been almost a year, during which absolutely no work has been done, and there has been no communication from Devon Highways to local residents and businesses. As taxpayers, we feel that this is totally unacceptable.
