Objection to Current Plans for Nine Elms Park Plot G / South London Mail Centre 53

Objection to Current Plans for Nine Elms Park Plot G / South London Mail Centre 53
The Issue
We object to the plans to build a 23-storey triangular building on plot G as outlined on application 2019/2325 at Wandsworth Planning. This project will negatively impact all flats of neighbouring, residential buildings facing directly towards plot G and especially flats of the Ambassador Building of Embassy Gardens and of Glacier House, Haines House, and Madeira Tower of The Residence development in the following ways:
- A 23-storey building will have a dramatic impact on the privacy of existing council tax paying residents. Hundreds of residents will completely lose their privacy and will be overlooked by the proposed building which will be extremely close.
- The proposed building is too dominant and imposing. It is significantly taller than every building in its immediate vicinity and will stand out as an anomaly due to its height. We understand that it will even be taller than the US Embassy building, which is the heart of our building community, and block G could overshadow it.
- The height and size of the building will bring almost all flats of Glacier House and Haines House and many flats of the Ambassador Building into darkness by taking away all our sunlight. This will damage the mental health and wellbeing of council tax paying residents.
- The height and size of the building will completely cover our views of the river and of the London skyline and will reduce the interest and value of our properties.
- The construction of this building will start in the middle of already completed projects and occupied residential buildings, especially Glacier House, Haines House, Madeira Tower and the Ambassador Building. The construction is anticipated to last 4 years right in front of our windows and balconies. It will cause noise and disruption to our everyday life while reducing our privacy and will also impact the mental health and wellbeing of our residents.
We urge the council to reconsider its plans for plot G. Instead of constructing this imposing and tall triangular building that could ruin our flats and mental health, our community would welcome a green space on this site as part of the Linear Park.
If you disagree with this project, I encourage you to file an objection comment for application 2019/2325 at Wandsworth Planning. This option is available under “View Associated Application Documents & Make Online Comments for Live Applications.” This application is still under review and accepts comments.
The more of us sign this and object, the more chance we will have to make an impact together.
