Our goal is to start a GSA for our school, Walnut Creek Middle School.

A GSA is a Gay-Straight Alliance club where members who are LGBTQ+ or support LGBTQ+ are involved in helping to better our learning environment for those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. These clubs can range from a large school district to one school in particular, and that is where we are hoping to start.

We believe this could become a welcoming safe space for LGBTQ+ people in our school, as well as a way we can work to educate people and help solve LGBTQ+ problems around our school.

Our plan is to use our club to make people aware and teach people about the LGBTQ+ community and to use that education to help improve our school for them. We would like to address things such as pronoun use throughout the school, gender acceptance throughout the learning environment, learning about how we can make our LGBTQ+ friends feel safer in our school, and even things such as hate speech and any harassment the LGBTQ+ has been getting and working to decrease the amount of times the harassment and hate are pushed on to our humble LGTBQ+ friends.

If our goal of starting this club is accomplished, we plan on working non-stop on helping our school in acceptance and tolerance whether that be for our staff or students.

We also hopefully plan on one day being able to host and attend events that are directed towards educating and supporting LGBTQ+ students in our school. Things like teaching the staff how to be better allies for the LGBTQ+ community are a given, but we hope that we could instill something such as a "Pride Week" during our school year, or better yet more celebration and inclusivity during pride month especially.
