Time off & compensate for pain for 2nd degree burns suffered while working.

Letter to
Walmart
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Walmart.

Time off & compensate for pain for 2nd degree burns suffered while working.

Walmart is a multi-million dollar company that has the money and the means to take care of their employees. Walmart is not making their employees and their safety top priority. The employees are suffering and in most cases, have their hands tied because nobody wants to prosecute such a big company. The above picture is of my Mother's 2nd degree burned arm. She was burned while working at her job in Wytheville, Virginia's Walmart deli. She immediately went to the local emergency room after her manager advised her NOT to go. After being checked by the Workers Comp. doctor, the doctor diagnosed her with second degree burns (without prescribing any antibiotics) however, was prescribed pain medicine in which prohibited her from driving and caused drowsiness and ordered her to stay home for a week and NOT go back to work. My mom then returned to Walmart's personnel office to tell them what the doctor said. Two hours later, she received a call from Walmart telling my mother that she had to report back to work the very next day. My mom went back to the Workers Comp. doctor to ask him why her diagnosis changed within two hours. He said he works for Walmart and couldn't go against what they wanted and it was in HIS best interest that she return to work. She asked him how could she return to work if the pain medicine cause drowsiness. He told her to bite the medicine in half.
Here's what happened: Mom is seriously injured at work but instead of Walmart agreeing to the doctor's orders, they tell the doctor to change his mind so that they will not have to file this as a work-related injury in their deli. That's the bottom line. They could care less about how bad my mom is injured AND how much she is in pain. My mom is a strong, sweet southern woman who never complains and when I hear her crying in pain and her frustration about the company she gives 100% for, it infuriates me. If you agree with me, please sign this petition and please share with your friends so we can get the word out just how corrupt this multi-million dollar company really is.

Sincerely,

Danielle
