Back in 2007, Walmart announced that they were no longer going to stock live fish due to lack of demand. Unfortunately only a portion of their stores stopped selling fish, and it's time that the rest of their locations follow along.  The fish at Walmart are poorly taken care of and live in deplorable conditions as a result of uneducated and apathetic employees. I have made multiple complaints to my local Walmart regarding dead fish and rotting plants in their tanks. There were fish trapped in the filter intake at various levels of decay, there were skeletons laying at the bottom, and there were fish trapped under rotted plants. They made sure to clean the tanks right away, but they didn't stay clean for long. Less than a month later, there were dead fish left to rot in every tank. 

Walmart does not want to make the effort to take adequate care of their fish, resulting in sick fish that customers do not want. There is no demand for Walmart's fish so there is no point for them to continue to keep fish in stock. 

By signing this petition, you are helping remove these fish from horrible conditions. Once Walmart stops stocking fish, the suppliers will send the fish to pet stores, where they will get the care they need from educated employees until they are sold.
