Lock Up Trading Card Products and Limit Purchases!

The Issue

The trading card community is no stranger to the likes of scalpers, however, things have gotten completely out of hand in recent weeks, particularly for sports cards and Pokemon cards. Collectors and players of the card games are seeing empty shelves in stores but many people online are listing multiples of products for private sales at 3 times MSRP!

People are camping out at stores day and night to try and get product, particularly scalpers who take every product before it even touches the shelf, leaving nothing for anyone else who might only be minutes behind or even next in line.

Vendors are being threatened and feel unsafe stocking products. Police have gotten involved. Some stores have already taken action against these issues, but not Walmart.

Vendors are free to come and go whenever, often breaking street release date to vary stocking days for their own safety, and first come first serve on product; even if it means they take it all!

Card products have also long been an issue for walmart regarding shrink; mainly theft.

There's a simple answer to this problem that will work out for everyone, both consumer and companies. It will cost walmart nothing, save money in the long run, provide the vendors with security and safety, and allow consumers fair chance at product while discouraging the scalpers. The solution can be temporary, until the scalper issues slow down, or can be implemented permanently.

It's really very simple... just lock up the product in a case, similar to most of the electronics, perfumes and colognes, and other various items already displayed in a locked case.

That, and limit purchase quantities to 3 products per person of any combination in total. That means 3 sports products, or 3 pokemon products, or 1 sports and 2 pokemon. Limit to 5 on any product sold by individual packs.

It's really that simple.
