1. Keep the UCC fully staffed with no staff cuts
2. Hire more counselors to fully accommodate the needs of the students during this time

The Wake Forest University Counseling Center plays an essential role in the safety and well-being of students on campus. Recently, WFU has decreased funding to the UCC and released one of its staff counselors. Not renewing the contract of even just one clinician displaces many students who relied on that counselor for support. The UCC is already chronically understaffed. The UCC needs our help in order help the students who need it most. During COVID-19, many have suffered great losses of loved ones, jobs, and opportunities. 

The current pandemic has taken a toll on many mentally and emotionally. In order to help all students in need the UCC must remain fully staffed. Students need as much support during these difficult times. Cutting clinicians from the UCC is not the solution, it is part of the problem. The UCC needs to be hiring more counselors, in addition to keeping all the ones they already have in order to best support the Wake Forest University Community.
