Extend the Wake Forest Pass/Fail Deadline to When After Grades are Announced

The Issue

Hi Wake Forest Students,

Due to the COVID-19 crisis we are in an unprecedented time. Almost all students are now home in a remote learning environment. Because of previous actions of Wake Forest Students, the Wake Forest Administration a few weeks ago generously approved all classes becoming pass/fail if desired, a choice each student can make for themselves. The deadline for that decision is currently April 17th.

As the situation has continued to develop, other colleges and universities have begun to extend that deadline past when grades are to be announced. A brief but far from exhaustive list of universities that have extended this deadline are UNC Chapel Hill, Davidson, UT Austin, and SMU.

It is impossible to articulate what each student is having to do in order to adapt as they respond individually in this crisis. This petition requests that the Wake Forest Administration extends the deadline past when grades are announced, to help continue alleviating the stress that many students and peers are facing. This is a time of near record uncertainty for many of us, and we hope that the administration is willing to listen to what students need.
