Waiting Made Better: A Shed for Every Commuter at Pasig Palengke

Waiting Made Better: A Shed for Every Commuter at Pasig Palengke
The Issue
Extreme heat and rain are two of the Philippines' most well-known weather phenomena. Currently, commuters who are waiting for public transportation are subjected to these inclement weather conditions. In addition to being uncomfortable, this scenario presents serious health risks, especially for the elderly, young people, and people with underlying medical conditions, including heatstroke, sunburn, hypothermia, and respite infections. Regardless of the weather, we think every commuter should have a secure and welcoming waiting area. The daily lives of thousands of Pasig residents who depend on public transportation can be greatly improved by providing basic cover hence a shed.
The waiting shed along our town market will directly benefit students and residents who are regular waiters in the area, having a clean and secure place to wait, particularly during unexpected rains and scorching heat. Parents, vendors, and customers will also be protected and made more convenient in their daily activities. Besides, people with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and other passengers will have easier access and feel safer, as the waiting shed will provide them with a safe area to take a rest while waiting for their rides. All in all, this project will encourage comfort, accessibility, and neatness, making the local market place more commuter-friendly for everyone.
The action plan is to construct an accurate waiting shed in Pasig Palengke for commuters with safety, comfort, and protection from harsh weather conditions. Most people who rely on tricycles, jeepneys, and other forms of public transportation have to wait under the sun or in the rain without a proper shelter. A waiting shed will give them comfort but also promote safety and organize for the community .
